I have come to believe that integrity is the most valuable trait one can possess. I am standing here as a veteran who has seen the rewards of doing the right thing, even when no one is looking. A year ago another soldier and I were walking through our vehicle motor pool. We noticed some trash on the floor and decided to pick it up without being told. Moments later we received a text message warning us of an emergency formation to happen later that day. At the formation a First Sergeant called mine and my friends name out and gave us a battalion coin as a reward for having integrity and cleaning up trash without being asked.
