Im not 100% on my topic so my outline isn’t complete. This is what I have so far.

Topics:

1.Racism:

Police are profiling people based on race; abusing their authority.

Speakers personal experience with racism and classism with the police.

how the speaker connects racism and classism.

How police use special narrative in police reports to paint a specific picture.

2. Classism:

Police discriminate against the poor.

Us government discriminates against the poor.

“What happens if we can’t pay a fine?”

Speakers example of Classism.

Policy of bail.

Based on your class police can determine how big of a threat you are.

3. Affluent vs poor:

Affluent people can afford bail without having to worry about bills.

Affluent people can afford lawyers and court fees which is a luxury.

Affluent people can afford an appearance that doesn’t appeal to police officers negative attention.

“In our system I think it’s better to be an affluent person suspected of trying to blow up a police station that it is to be a poor person suspected of much less.”

4. Jail:

Prisoners get little to no medical attention.

Prisoners have a lack of hygiene.

Prisoners have chronic hunger.

Suicide is the leading cause of death in prison.

Mental health issues develop while own prison.
